Retro Disney Fun - Aladdin: The Fate of Agrabah (SHELVED)

Back in the 1990s WDI was fiddling with a giant helmet for VR and they made an Aladdin fly around simulator. They ran it of Silicon Graphics computers and it was pretty nifty. After the demo period, they turned it into a magic carpet race and installed it into Disney Quest Entertainment Centers in Chicago and Orlando. That is where I first played with it be I had already seen the demo they had recorded because I am a Californian Disney Kid. "Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride: Players wear a head-mounted display as they ride a magic carpet through Agrabah, collecting gems to find The Genie, who has been hidden away in the Cave of Wonders."

The "Aladdin: Fate of Agrabah" game was a riff on that ride and featured a whole bunch of superlative 2D animation done by Disney TV animation so the player could interact with the world and character voice actors. Sadly the Design was a bit loose and the company they hired to do the programming had disaster after disaster and the whole thing had to be scrapped. I had originally been hired by a sub sub contractor to do hand made binary space partitions because that is what the contract house had wanted, but then I got shunted over to doing the 3DS Max 3D character stuff because I had been doing it at 3DO and showed that I could remake most of the things they needed. This gig in 1997 was the stopping point between Trip Hawkins version of Hell, and My long tenure on the history making "The Sims" PC. It was also the first of my 3 Disney Gigs....which had me working at Disney Feature on Meet the Robinsons, and then on Cleaning up and doing original animation for another Disney Imagineering project--->Toontown Online.

Part one of Randy's Carpet, made REALLY low poly and followable through the streets and alleys of Agrabah. Built Textured, Rigged and Modelled all in an early version of 3DSMax.

One of the other things I had toi build and animated was a humerus skeleton who threw his own head as a weapon. Based on the famous Pat Benatar song.
