SimsPC:Original, Livin Large and House Party ExPacks
Being a full level 3 CGA Artist generalist, having come from 3DO as an art director. I worked with Art Dir. Charles London to build a scene in 3D with our burgeoning cast of characters to make it clear where the project was trying to go.
adding more rooms and objects.
plussing up materials and pulling stuff together
landscaping and lighting.
getting multiple artists to bring their skills to the table.
Pantomime anim style established. Plumbob named. Silliness firmly committed to.
proof that I had to figure all this stuff out.
originally we just had flippers until Don and I worked out shaped hand replacement. :)
Let's just say , as a woodworker, a fabricator and a seamster.... this was never okay.
As we began doing our first Expansion Pack. I began to start getting deeper in the visual design and pre pro. Everything in general had been done by committee or by the superlative designer ladies when it came to dynamics of behaviour.
topiaries designed and made. in that order.
The Preliminary Love Bed I made. The template to be worked against for animation
The final released version. a little more fleshed out and Vegasy.
Here is the object I made that provoked open warfare because I made the only version that had dirt/burn marks from pans on the cutting board. Which is the first wedge I tried to drive between the pristine & outrageous mono chromatic materials
and the tricks from things like the 3D Realism Toolkit, and elsewhere to make things look like there was air and light in the world.
With House Party, I got assigned to a group of artists and animators to do the next and maybe last ExPack while SimsOnline was starting up.
with a little less direct scrutiny I started building out the prepro expectations.
Llama Puppets, ClubKid DJs.....and Yodelling Cowgirls. It was fun to be able to expand the quirky.
hand puppets for obnoxious trolling by the mime, who was there to compete with the sad clown.
bouncing party goers.
The hookah of the day became a fanciful bubble blowing station.
Things became equal opportunity offensive with who might crawl out of the birthday cake.
Clown moonlighting as a Carl Weathers styled boxer, and the lady gorilla suit... so the failure states were better than the originals.
funky ravey
funky ravey baby.
It was way more important to go more old school burlesque than anything tawdry. Grand Theft Auto had already been out a few years....
bubbles.
Larry has had much better days.
It was a joy to sneak in more crud, but it still needed more light and air feels.
Boogie.
I made the hands and laser gun for the Drew Carey show... I also got to animated Drew and my beloved Craig Ferguson... sigh. My laser is two cylinders.... had to be done.
